Item description

Whitman Publishing Co. Original copyright 1904. Author was "Laura Lee Hope," a house pseudonym used by several authors writing for the Stratemeyer Syndicate. Frontispiece and internal illustrations. #1 in the series. This title has undergone several text revisions. The original text was expanded in 1928. Then 1950 it was published as a "new edition." In 1961, it was completely rewritten. This Whitman text is 282 pages, the 1950 version, published in 1950, so before the complete gut/rewrite of 1961. Whitman books were cellophaned picture cover books with notoriously poor paper which "foxes" (age-yellows) significantly. The pages of this particular book are indeed very yellow, but not ripped or overly brittle, and they turn without making you feel as if they'd crumble in your hand. Binding is good. No looseness of spine. Significant wear at top of spine. Note to New York residents: An 8.75% tax applies.
