Item description

Presented in a beautiful Arts and Crafts style frame, this handsome rendition of a young man singing while holding his hymnal or caroling book was painted in 1952, at the height of this artist's career. Nunzio La Spina (1900-1988) was born in Palermo, Sicily, and emigrated to America in July of 1914. His Portrait of Lillian, submitted to the Salons of America exhibition at New Yorkโ€™s Rockefeller Center in April of 1934, received a favorable review from Edward Jewell, the art critic for The New York Times. In the early 1940s, he completed work on a mural decoration for the ceiling in the lobby of the Psychiatric Building of Bellevue Hospital. He was one of over a dozen artists commissioned by the Federal Art Project. Oil on canvasboard 16" x 12". FREE SHIPPING!
