Item description
THE METHODIST EXCITEMENT IN TEXAS: A HISTORY
By Walter N. Vernon, Robert W. Sledge, Robert C. Monk, and Norman W. Spellmann
6" x 9.25", 446 page hardcover with dustjacket, The Texas United Methodist Historical Society, Unstated Edition (1st), Copyright 1984
"The Methodist Excitement in Texas" chronicles the heritage of southern Anglos, southern Blacks, Hispanics, Mexicans, and Europeans, especially Germans, who planted Methodism in the State of Texas. It is an absorbing and exciting account of how the annual conferences and institutions of various kinds were created, separated, discontinued and/or reunited. The distinctiveness of Texas United Methodism is portrayed convincingly.
The book itself is complete and in FINE condition with some overall light wear. The dustjacket is in GOOD condition with some edge wear, rubbing, and creases. On the title page, the book has been signed by one of the authors, Walter N. Vernon. (see pictures)
