Item description

Unique English Victorian Style Red Floral Christmas Ornament Shabby chic ENGLISH BOUQUET ORNAMENT The lavish bouquet hand painted in reverse on this glass ornament is derived from a luxurious wool and silk tapestry in the Muscum's collection. The original was likely woven in the 1720s in the London workshop of Joshua Morris (probably active 1700-1728) after a design by Andien de Clermont (French, active 1717-83), a painter of decorative subjects who worked in England between about 1716 and 1754- Gift of Mrs. Screven Lorillard, 1952 (52-195-12)
