When you look at the plates, you'll see a slight indentation on the plates where you can sit the cup if you have it. One of the plates has a very small chip - see picture number 3. Despite the American sounding name, Shafford ceramics are made in Japan and are not Majolica ceramics, but are Bone Fine China.
