Item description

UP FOR SALE: Vintage Wade Whimsies Ireland Molly Malone Porcelain Figurine 3.5" This classic figurine is a vintage gem from Ireland dating from 1970-1986. When Wade opened an additional factory in Ireland, this factory produced a series of figurines based on famous Irish folklore and songs. The figurines were released after starting in the early 1970s and after their initial debut were released with alternate coloring and marked with Seagull Ceramic in addition to Wade. This figurine is from the initial set and is based on Molly Malone. Molly Malone is a legendary figure in Irish folklore, often celebrated in the traditional folk song "Cockles and Mussels" or "Molly Malone." The song tells the story of a fishmonger in Dublin, Molly Malone, who tragically succumbs to fever. With her wheelbarrow and fish basket, Molly is remembered fondly as the "Tart with the Cart" and has become an enduring symbol of Dublin, with a statue in her honor located on Grafton Street. A perfect addition to any collection, this figurine is ideal for fans of Ireland and folklore Wade Ceramics, established in 1810 in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, is a renowned British pottery manufacturer with a rich history spanning over two centuries.
