It means "Corporal" and maybe that is why they lost the war, they spent so much time addressing each other. May have been trimmed off a uniform but looks really sharp. About 3 3/8" across the top. These are among the more difficult to find period insignia of Germany and even harder to find in this condition. I found one on another site in close but not quite the same shape having sold for sixty euros, and I found another in much more worn shape on another site indicated as having been stolen.
