This ignition switch comes with 2 keys (chip ID48) The chip is initialized For Honda Civics that are year 2001 or newer are equipped with an immobilizer system. The keys have a chip inside of them. The chip key must match the engine computer in order to start the car. If the car will not start because of this issue there will be a light (showing a picture of a key) that will come on in the dashboard when you crank the engine. This indicates that the car will not start due to not having the proper key.
