In 1911, he lived on rue de Chastillon in Châlons-sur-Marne. From 1911 to 1913, he performed his military service (as a musician from 1912).
Raymond Lheureux married Marie-Thérèse Victorine Gand on 1 July 1914 in Amiens. During the First World War, he was a stretcher-bearer at the front: he ensured the evacuation of the wounded and provided them with first aid «with a dedication above all praise». He participated in the battle of Verdun with the 154th Infantry Regiment. He made several portraits of his comrades on the front during the war.
From 1921, he lived in Vendeuvre. Raymond Lheureux remarried on 22 May 1928 with Marcelle Alice Marie de Courtilloles d'Angleville (1896-1979) in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. In 1933, Raymond Lheureux is the father of six children: Geneviève, Françoise, Philippe, Bernard, Anne-Marie. In 1937, he became a member of the Salon d'hiver. From 1938, he lived in Paris
