THIS WEEK: our cover picture is derived from one of the thirty-three etchings originally published by Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes (1746-1828) under the title The Art of Bull Fighting. "The clever student of Falees," it is captioned, "infuriates the bull by moving about wrapped in his cloak."
In view of the approaching television performance of the Metropolitan's studio Fledermaus on February 1, we are glad to publish the list of stations on which the home audience may witness the production.
Fedora Barbieri discusses her first American Carmen.
Victor Andoga, who writes of his stage direction of Carmen before the Russian Revolution, is also remembered as coaching Ezio Pinza for his Boris Godounov.
