THIS WEEK: our cover picture was sketched for OPERA NEWS by Rolf Gerard, reflecting the same spirit of mid-century romance that pervades his stage designs for the Metropolitan Opera production of Arabella.
Miss Ida Cook of London, who writes of her warm friend Mme. Ursuleac, the creatrix of the Strauss heroine, is the author of We Followed Our Stars and many volumes of appealing modern fiction.
We are indebted to Tibor Kozma for sharing with us his notes for the admirable lecture-recital offered by John Gutman and himself for Guild members last month at Town Hall.
Joachim Meyer, who describes the Dresden premiere, is active in opera management and represents such organizations as the Cincinnati Summer Opera Association in New York.
Full program listings, including many photos from the production!
