*The Great American Films (1973) Special and 50 similar items

Vintage original 23.5 x 33.25 in. poster printed for a special motion picture event entitled, THE GREAT AMERICAN FILMS. Presented by The Los Angeles International Film Exposition in association with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ("LACMA") and the American Film Institute, this special festival was held at the Leo S. Bing Theater at LACMA from November 15 through December 16, 1973. Billed as "A series of 50 extraordinary American motion pictures selected by 40 of the nation's prominent film critics and historians: 28 individual performances plus a 36-hour marathon (which was held at the El Rey Theater on Wilshire Boulevard). This vintage original small print-run poster was printed on a thicker paper stock and the design features the company logo of the major U.S. motion picture studios including Columbia Pictures; 20th Century-Fox; Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM); Paramount Pictures; RKO Radio Pictures; United Artists; Universal Pictures; and Warner Bros., as well as the FILMEX logo. Unrestored and unfolded as originally issued, it is in fine+ condition with some small creases along the first 4 in. of the left border and light signs of wear on the top right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws and the bold color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
