If you have diabetes it is always best to check your blood glucose before eating Glucogel to confirm that your blood glucose is low and that you need extra carbohydrates. NICE guidelines state that when 10-20g of carbohydrates are administered, blood glucose levels should increase in 5-15 minutes. Glucogel can be administered through a PEG tube, however you would not expect as quick absorption as you would through the buccal route (mouth/oral administration).
