Vintage original 27 x 41 in. US one-sheet poster from the 1940s Film-Noir crime drama, TOO LATE FOR TEARS, released in 1949 by United Artists and directed by Byron Haskin, in which through a fluke circumstance, a ruthless woman stumbles across a suitcase filled with $60,000, and is determined to hold onto it even if it means murder. The cast includes Lizabeth Scott, Don DeFore, Dan Duryea, Arthur Kennedy, Kristine Miller, and Barry Kelley. Printed for the film's original 1949 US theatrical release, this example is unrestored and folded as originally issued in near-fine condition as shown with a light trim on the top border above the corner crop marks and some bleed-through in the top right panel from the writing on the verso. The colors are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading. The film was independently produced and then released through United Artists in 1949, a high watermark year for Film-Noir. Producer Hunt Stromberg borrowed Lizabeth Scott, Kristine Miller, Don DeFore, and director Byron Haskin from independent producer Hal B. Wallis for the production. The UCLA Film and Television Archive has remastered this film from a recently-discovered original print. The restoration process took five years after the print was discovered in France and involved piecing segments of another copy into the restored version to have a complete film. The restoration was funded by the Film Noir Foundation.
