Item description
Grande Rio Verde is a quick maturing tomatillo variety that produces larger apple-green fruits, 2 to 3 inches in diameter. It is a favorite for salsa-making and has a sweet and tangy taste. The fruit of this variety reaches a weight of 2 ounces each and grows on 8-foot vines. It has a characteristic tart taste and can be used both raw and cooked. Because it has a determinate growth habit, it suffers from far less sprawl than other tomatillo varieties, making it good for containers and smaller gardens.
To plant 'Grande Rio Verde' tomatillos, follow these steps
Sunlight: Plant in a location with 6-8 hours of sunlight for optimal growth.
Soil: Plant in well-draining soil with pH 6.0 to 7.0.
Harvest: Harvest when firm and the husk is dry for maximum flavor and nutrition.
Starting from Seeds: Sow seeds 1/4" deep, 1" apart. Maintain a germination temperature of 70-75F and keep the soil moist. Transplant seedlings into separate pots when the second set of leaves appears.
Timing: Sow outside 2-4 weeks after the average last frost date and when soil temperature is at least 60F. If starting indoors, plant 4-6 weeks before the last killing frost. Transplanting is best done 1-2 weeks after the average date of the last frost for your region
1st class mail is used so there is no tracking. If you prefer tracking i recommend paying the extra fee for upgraded shipping which is 1 fee for as many packs of seeds as you want and alot quicker delivery
