Item description
Emerald Okra seeds are known for their vibrant green color and tender, spineless pods. Here are some key points about them:
History: Developed in the 1950s by the Campbell Soup Company, this heirloom variety is recognized for its high yield and flavor.
Growth: Emerald Okra matures quickly, typically ready for harvest in about 55 days. It thrives in warm weather and produces best with regular picking.
Culinary Uses: The pods are ideal for various dishes, including gumbo and soups, and maintain their color when cooked.
Planting Tips: For optimal germination, soak the seeds for 24 hours before planting
To plant emerald okra seeds, you need to:
Start inside in May, 2-3 weeks before transplanting outside. Plant 3-4 seeds per cell, 1/4? deep. Germination happens faster at 80-90 (use a heating mat). Thin to 1 plant per cell before transplanting (cut, don?t pull).
Soak okra seeds in tepid water several hours before you plant them.
Sow okra seeds oe to 1 inch (2.5cm) deep; sow seeds 3 to 6 inches (15cm) apart. Space rows 24 to 36 inches (61-91cm) apart.
Wait until the soil is warm and the air temperature reaches 60 degrees. Use fresh seeds soaked overnight to encourage germination. Sow your seeds oe inch deep in light soil and 1 inch deep in heavy soil. Space your seeds 3 inches apart in rows that are 3 to 4 feet apart.
Plant three seeds per pot or area. Plant the seeds 3/4? ? 1? deep. When they grow to an inch, keep the strongest and largest one, and snip the other two. You just want to grow one okra plant in each space.
Plant the seeds 1 inch deep. Don?t put more than 1 seed per hole because that will lead to crowding and thin plants with few fruits. Instead, place a seed every 4 to 8. Space rows 3 feet apart
1st class mail is used so there is no tracking. If you prefer tracking i recommend paying the extra fee for upgraded shipping which is 1 fee for as many packs of seeds as you want and alot quicker delivery
